Introduction
History

NECīs first 16-bit microprocessor; previously, NEC released a 16-bit microprocessor chip set; this set named uCOM-16 consists of uPD755 (register and ALU), uPD 756 (controller) and micro program ROMs. In 1978 NEC announced the uPD768 as uCOM-1600.
