The MK3874 microprocessor is the PROM based version of the industry-standard 3870 family of single-chip microprocessors. The 3874 is called the Piggyback PROM (P-PROM) because of a Double-Dip packaging concept (see also section "Info" / Piggyback). The MK3874 retains exactly the same pinout and architectual features as other members of the 3870 family. There are 32 lines (or 30 with the stand-by power RAM option) of bi-directional I/O, a timer, vectored interrupts, executable and scratchpad RAM and an 8-bit CPU. Thus the 3874 P-PROM has the same functional capability and pinout as its 3870 masked-ROM counterpart while beeing able to support a standard PROM plugged into the top of the package. |
