History

One of the most spread microcontollers since its introduction in 1972; its longevity can be attributed to the fact that it was the first single-chip microcomputer ever offered; built in in different applications; at manufacturers works software is implemented in ROM by means of mask programming

Technology

PMOS, CMOS and LMOS (Low power PMOS) technology; CPU with RAM, ROM and I/O; internal clock; a single -15 V power supply is required for PMOS parts; CMOS parts use power supplies in the range +3 V to +6.5 V
